BIG SMASH STUDIOS was created by Gary Cox in the beginning of 2009.  Gary has been a lifelong artist with a love for computers as long as he can remember. Primarily an artist by trade, Gary wanted to learn programming as a hobby and then the iPhone came along. With his new Mac purchase, he was off and running. His first title was Circus Acts to experiment with the basic pipeline process of iPhone development.  While this game was simple enough, there were many obstacles to overcome along the way.  "I wanted to create a game with world-wide mass appeal, so I made sure the game was translated into as many languages as possible. So far, that includes 13 languages." says Gary. With a "lite" version now available, the game has been a huge hit on iTunes.

Next, Gary was ready to create his 2nd big title called Haunted Cemetery. "This game will reflect a lot more emphasis on a slightly older audience. It's core is based on a first person shooter but in a shooting gallery approach.  My goal was to step up the art and include a variety of in-game choices such as weapon selection, etc." says Gary.  "All in all, I'm pleased with the end result and I can't wait to continue updates to each game."

Bug Eyed is a game similar to Haunted Cemetery, but has many improvements. Instead of mindless "blowing up zombies" (which is fun in it own way) you play to catch fireflies while keeping the mosquitoes and dragonflies off of you. There are also alligators that you can shoot with your slingshot while helping to achieve a high score. " This game was fun to make because it appeals to all of us who feel a slight bit of victory when you swat that annoying bug with your flyswatter. Believe me, there is plenty of swatting in Bug Eyed." says Gary.

Finally, his latest project Dice Match is complete. "I wanted to create a game that had much more appeal to an older audience." says Gary. Dice Match is a puzzle game that can be easy to learn, but always a challenge. There are 4 different game modes and each has a unique play style. The game plays very well on the smaller screen, but is especially fun on the iPad.

Gary continues to listen to his fans for suggestions and has already updated his first game with input from others.  "Being able to update on the iTunes store is key to allowing the fans to have input."  To contact Gary directly, email him at gary@bigsmashstudios.com
